Palacios Texas
The City By The Sea
Founded in 1902 on a secluded stretch of the Texas Gulf Coast, Palacios is bordered on the east and south by Tres Palacios Bay, which opens into Matagorda Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Palacios is accessed by Texas State Highway 35 and Palacios Municipal Airport. It is located about halfway between Houston and Corpus Christi. The Palacios Channel connects the Port of Palacios to the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway Home to approximately 400 vessels, Palacios is the third largest shrimping port on the Texas Gulf Coast and has self-proclaimed itself to be the "Shrimp Capital of Texas." |
The town boasts seven miles of shoreline so recreational fishing, sailing, kayaking and canoeing is very popular pastimes. There’s a stretch of sandy beach on the bay for swimming and sunbathing. |
There are also free boat ramps and numerous lighted jetties and piers for fishing. |

The Palacios Seawall is a 1.5 mile concrete seawall that is a favorite spot for walkers. |
There are several playgrounds for the young and young at heart. |
